This story was told to me by 2 of Lula’s sister Jean’s grandchildren. Both had stopped by to see their family home during their trips to Bocas and I had so many questions about the history of this beautiful place and wanted to know more about Lula.
Lula and her sister Jean were raised here in a 2 story home by their parents. When their parents passed, Jean became the owner of the home and took care of her sister Lula (pictured here) who had a child-like personality.
In 1974 an earthquake leveled their home. Jean’s son rebuilt it and added the extra rooms and made it into the B&B. Jean named the B&B after her sister Lula. Lula had a fun-loving personality which I believe gave this home the beautiful energy it now has. From what I hear, it is now the oldest Bed and Breakfast in Bocas del Toro.
Our goal is to keep the beautiful energy flowing and to keep the home full of love and life.
The inn has had several overseers, who have shared our passion with one goal, to provide a secure, authentic, and relaxing environment. A place to call home during your Caribbean getaway.
Welcome to Lula’s!
